Let's Clean House, Ladies!

Sandra Bullock is one of my favorite actresses. If I know she is in the movie, I’m going to watch it. As I’ve been thinking about what I want to say to you today this scene from Practical Magic continually came to mind. Now, it doesn’t show you the part that I continually thought of, so let me tell you what happens next.

Practical Magic

The dead boyfriend’s ashes begin to fall from the ceiling (his name is Jimmy and they just banished him from Jillian) and one lady yells, “Let’s Clean HOUSE Ladies!” In this rough scruffy voice, I really wanted to find a clip with that particular part, because that’s what I keep hearing in my head over and over that I want to say to you. “Let’s clean house Ladies!

I also want to point out that at the beginning of this scene, Sally (Jillian’s sister) has activated the phone tree and called every WOMAN they know, even those that don’t like them or have talked bad about them, or have secretly been curious about them and guess what Sally did? She asked for HELP!

Each woman walked into that house with a broom, prepared to clean! They had a plan and they had support, from even those they least expected it of.

Why is this on my mind and what on earth is the point I’m getting to? What’s on my mind? Positivity. What’s my point? We need to clean house on the inside. I see you’re still a little bit lost, so let me explain.

How many times a day do you disrespect yourself? How many times a day do you look in the mirror or simply think the following things:
  • I’m fat.
  • I’m awkward.
  • I’m boney.
  • I look pregnant.
  • I look sick.
  • I’ll never get it right.
  • I’m never going to lose weight.
  • I’m never going to gain weight.
  • I’m stupid.
  • I’m not good enough.
  • I’m a bad mom.
  • I’m a bad wife.
  • I’m a bad friend.
  • I can’t do it.
  • I’ll never look that good.
  • I’m invisible.
  • My nose is too pointy.
  • My eyebrows too bushy.
  • My legs too short.
  • My feet too big.
  • How many times have you cried in that dressing room?

Should I go on and list every insecurity and lie you’ve told yourself? I'm sure there are YEARS of buildup. Would you say these things to your best friend? Would you seriously tell her “Your nose is so pointy I should nickname you Pinocchio”? Of course not! How rude and disrespectful is that! What kind of friend would you be? So then why on God’s green earth are you talking to yourself like that!

How does it make you feel when someone says something disrespectful and rude to you? Like one I heard recently… “Why are you trying to lose weight? No one will ever notice you.” If someone said that to you, how would it make you feel?

Angry, Sad, Hurt, deflated, crushed…like you shouldn’t even bother? Right?

So let me ask this again, WHY are you talking to yourself like that? You are hurting YOU and you don’t even know it! The mind is a powerful thing! You have probably heard me say and if you haven’t you will… a lot; “the body will not go where the mind will not take it.

If you mind is over there talking smack about how much you suck and how you’ll never be able to do 10 sit ups, run a 5K or lift 200 pounds with your legs – then guess what? You won’t. Simple as that. You already told yourself no. You already told your body that it isn’t strong enough or good enough. What a crock!

All that constant negative chatter going on inside our heads is holding us back; it’s keeping us from living the life we were made for. It makes us miserable, frustrated and depressed and sometimes we don’t even know it!

We have to be very aware of the way we talk to ourselves, and don’t tell me you don’t - honey - cause everybody talks to themselves. You don’t really think I believe that you are just sitting there with an empty head and nothing running through that beautiful mind of yours, do you? Good, cause I don’t.

It’s like when you walk into a room to get something; only once you get there you can’t remember what it was – so you start mumbling to yourself, “Now, what was it I came in here for?” Your mind is always running and it can run away with you!

Not too long ago, my Mom and I had a discussion about cremation. Stop asking if this thought train just derailed, it didn’t. She wanted to know my thoughts on it. Well, I wasn’t sure how I felt about it or what my thoughts were on it. I did some asking. I did some research. And then with my brilliant mind, I made my own decision. MINE. Not yours, not hers and not anybody else’s. What I decided was this…

I am a Christian, so obviously I looked to the Bible for my answer. The Bible from my viewpoint wasn't real clear on this and if it was it would have bit me on the nose. I am also a creative person. I like to make pretty things with paper. I like to use my hands.

So, I thought to myself (see already talking to myself); “how would I feel if I worked so hard on this beautiful scrapbook album and gifted it to someone, only to eventually watch them burn it?” I worked so hard on it! I put my heart and soul into it and they burned it?!!! I’d be crushed, devastated!

As a Christian, I believe I am created by God. I am HIS work of art. There is not another me. I am the only me there is. God believes me beautiful and wonderfully made. “I am the apple of God’s eye, a treasured person.” Psalm 17:8. In other scriptures it says, “I am God’s treasured possession.” I am HIS work of art – how can I burn his creation?

Furthermore, how can I treat HIS creation the way I do? Have I no respect?! Talking smack to myself, telling myself those horrible negative things? Is that really what I think God believes of me? Scripture says otherwise, doesn’t it?

So Ladies, here is my challenge to you – STOP the negativity! It’s like mindlessly scrolling Facebook – DRAINING! As soon as you catch yourself doing it – STOP.

You know that movie Parental Guidance where they are saying, “use your words” and anytime you put someone down you have to give them 3 put ups? Every time you catch yourself - disrespecting yourself – I want you to stop and think of 3 positive things and say them - out loud. Heck! Write them on a post-it and stick them on your wall! I want to see them!

We’ve got to clean house ladies! We’ve got to get that dead-beat jerk of Negativity banished! Respect yourself and the wonderfully made creation that you are enough to stand up to your own negative self-talk. You are so much more than you believe – so do yourself a favor and get out of your way!

You have help and you have support even if you don’t realize it yet. So pick up that broom my friend, and let’s continue on this journey to an all around healthier lifestyle.

With much love,

~Coach T~

21 Day Fix - Begins NOW!

Today, I start adding in the workouts. For most of January I focused on what I was eating. I knew I had stopped caring what I was putting into my mouth. If I wanted Pizza, I had Pizza. If I wanted Braum’s or Sonic, I had it. If I wanted Starbucks I had it. I didn’t pay attention to how often and I didn’t care. As I mentioned before, I basically checked out of life.

Checked out

During January, my family did have Pizza and I believe one night they even had Braum’s. I did not. I did have one bite of one piece of pizza, I was struggling with some cravings that day, but overall my cravings have been very little and I’ve stayed focused. I can thank Shakeology for that.

Shakeology

I could have done the workouts in January, but I also did not want to overwhelm myself. So, I walked. I focused on food, on my business as a Beachbody Coach and on taking time to look nice.
make me your coach

NOW…I’m adding in the workouts! I’m doing the 21 Day Fix Extreme (it’s the one I already have). So in 21 days I hope to see some further improvements in my journey. My daughter wants to do the workouts with me and so we will be sweating at 3:30 this afternoon. ***photos to come

The 21-Day-Fix is so popular that it is once again on SALE! So crazy! Have you heard of the 21-Day Fix? It’s so popular; I don’t know how anyone hasn’t heard of it.

21 Day Fix

This is my second attempt at COMPLETING 21-Day-Fix! I wasn’t as focused or ready as I needed to be to complete it the first time. I let obstacles stand in my way and I shouldn’t have.

Why did I choose 21-Day-Fix?
  • Its 30 minutes.
  • It’s not impossible, I believe anyone could do it and modifying is OKAY! It means if you do a round 2, you’ll improve even MORE!
  • It has an easy to follow eating plan.
  • I don’t have to count calories (I hate that! You do know how much I dislike math right?)
  • The recipes do not taste like crap! There are suggestions of meals I WOULD eat, like fajitas, Cobb salad, chili and more! There is even a cookbook called Fixate!
  • I believe in the program and the products.

Now…I set a goal for myself to help ONE person this month on their fitness and health journey. If the above sounds like something you’d be interested in learning more about email me: coachtonya1@gmail.com I would LOVE to help you! I would love to have you on this journey with me, hanging out in the challenge group with me, cheering each other on!

I wanna help you

You know Spring Break is coming, right? YIKES! Why is that even entering our minds already! Holy Smokes!

Maybe you are interested but you want to wait and see my progress with the program? If so, continue to follow my blog or check out my Facebook page: “I’m the Girl who failed Gym Class”. I will be sharing how it’s going and what my results are. I know they are going to be fantastic! How do I know this? Because I’m not going to allow them to be anything else! HA!

But don’t forget the Challenge Pack Program is on sale this month!
Promotion ends Feb. 29, 2016!

I want to leave you with one last thing, a personal message from me:

Have a GREAT day!

With Much Love,

Constant Consistency Challenges

I'm gonna call it the CCC. I struggle with it CONSTANTLY! The last post I made was on the 8th and it was short and sweet. I never returned, even though I said I would in 5 minutes. My goal is to post every other day except Sunday's and so far it is still a serious CHALLENGE for me. Today, (the day I'm writing this is January 16th), I aim to do better regularly and honestly I think that's all we can do, every day. Life is going to knock you down time and time again. It's up to you whether or not you get back up

My Mom and I were recently discussing health and exercise. She said something to me that I'd like to share.

"The one thing I notice about most fitness post though is they seem to think everybody is on the same page, and the same level and we're not. We're all different ages, weights and have different health issues. There are some things that I physically would harm myself if I did, that you or someone even healthier or with less weight or younger could do with no problem. That's not to say that someday I may be able to do some of those things or at least do a moderation of some of those things, but people seem to want to push you to do things that will hurt you."
"You can do this! They say. You got this! They say. But the truth is I can't physically do some of that unless I want to be hurt. That can be very discouraging and make you not want to read the post."

What do you think about that?

I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about that lately and I’ve a few things to say about it. I hope you will hear me out. She is right; to an extent. We are all at different levels, ages, weights, and struggling with different health issues. I am a BeachBody Coach and it is my goal to HELP you. I do not in any way ever wish to hurt you; however, I am guilty of saying:

“You can do this!” or “You got this!”

I do not say this as a “market strategy”. I say this because I truly believe it. I’m not going to tell you that you can’t”. I am sorry, I do not believe in that word. Once you start telling yourself you cannot do A, B, or C before long you’ll find yourself unable to do D, E, or F!
It is a downward spiral that I will not encourage – ever.

I believe in you no matter your age, weight or health issues. You may not believe in yourself, but that does not mean that I cannot believe in you. It does not mean that I won’t push you to reach a little higher or stretch a little further. You are capable of far more than you will ever know and I can say that to you NOT because I’m a Beachbody Coach BUT because I’ve lived it. I’ve experienced what it’s like to learn and see just what my body is capable of. The ONLY way to experience this and learn it is to simply TRY.
just try
When I ran my first marathon in 2013, I struggled from mile 19 all the way to 26. I started having cramps in my hamstring at mile 19, by mile 22 I was barely moving. I was hurt. I was in a lot of pain. I’d hit that dreaded wall runners talk about and I did not know how to get over it. I was crying – something I rarely admit to doing. I was texting my best friend Jenny, my Mom and my Husband. The struggle was real! I broke down and told my husband,
I can’t”. He said the best thing anyone has ever said to me:

You CAN and you WILL. You have never said that you can’t and I’m not about to let you start now. Keep moving.

At mile 24, my husband and children met me. My son and husband grabbed each of my hands, my daughter carried items and they all walked me across that finish line. They believed in me, when I no longer did, when I had given up on myself. That is what I want to do for YOU!

You will tell me things that I will view as “false” and I will tell you so, just as my husband told me during the marathon. However, I already believe in you. Now, I simply want to hold your hand and walk with you through this journey.

I'll help you

Let’s say I have encouraged you to buy the 21 Day Fix and you’ve received it…
What do you do next?
Do you…

A)   Sit down and watch it first and then psych yourself out of doing it?
B)   Plan to start it on Monday and forget?
C)   Start it on Monday and give up on Wednesday?
D)   Honestly commit to it for 21 days modifying everything you are currently unable to complete due to your weight, age or health issues?
E)   Commit to it for 21 days doing exactly every single thing it says even though you are physically not ready for certain moves and end finding yourself injured, disappointed and frustrated?
F)    Get started and run into a few issues and discuss with your coach???
G)   Successfully complete the program and feel proud of yourself?

Do you know what I would like you to do?

I’d like you to call me when you receive your box. I’d like to talk you through it, answer some of your questions and help you prepare to fully commit yourself to the program for 21 days. I’d like you to call me, text me or message me each day after your workout and tell me how it went, how you felt, where you had struggles, ask me questions and let me help you. Most of all, I’d like you to allow me to be your friend first and then your Coach. I don’t want you to get hurt during your journey, but I will not tell you that you cannot do it. I’m sorry, my heart would shatter if I told you that, because I truly deep in my heart believe that you CAN do it. It may require baby steps, modified movements, slower moves…but you CAN if you first make the decision to TRY. If you have injuries you know what your limits are, do not ignore them.

If you want a friend or a Coach who will sugar coat things, who will tell you that you can’t do a, b, or c, and who does not believe in you – then I’m not the friend or Coach you need. I will never lie to you – I may suck at being consistent, but I will never lie to you. I won’t sugar coat things. I won’t tell you that the bagel you’re eating is a great breakfast when I believe otherwise. I won’t tell you that you cannot do something when I believe in my heart and soul that on some level you can. I am a bluntly honest person, but I will not get in your face and yell at you or tear you down. My goal is to first and foremost be your friend, to encourage you, to believe in you and to help you see just what an amazing person you truly are and how strong your body really is.

I’m going to be real with you. You will see “marketing” from me. Selling BeachBody products is how I make an income. If I do not promote them, I do not make any money. However, I will not promote products that I myself have not tried or had experience with. That doesn’t mean that I will not share with you when new items are being released or on sale, because I will. If you follow me on Instagram you will see all the hashtag craziness. If you follow my FB page – you will see all that there as well. If you are a member of my FREEprivate’ FB group you will see it there as well.

you are the author

However, I will be real with you. I will share with you how I, personally, am doing. I will share with you what my struggles are, what I’m eating, drinking, when I screw up, what exercises I’m trying to improve on and so much more. I will share this journey with you as if we are best friends.

If that is something you would like then I invite you to be my friend and join me in this journey.

Sincerely,

~Coach Tonya~
